Convert image

Change the format and size of a picture.

What this does

Reads a picture, applies its rotation, and writes it in the format you choose. Several files are handled one after another and offered as one ZIP.

What it can’t do

Make a small or blurry picture sharper, or keep an animation: an animated GIF or WebP gives its first frame only.

A worked example

A website only accepts JPG, and the photo is a 6 MB PNG screenshot. Converted to JPG at quality 80 it is under 600 KB.

Questions

Which format should I pick?
JPG for photos that must open everywhere. PNG for screenshots, logos and anything with sharp edges or transparency. WebP is smaller than both and works in every current browser. AVIF is smaller still but slower to make.
What does the quality slider do?
For JPG, WebP and AVIF, a lower number means a smaller file and more visible compression. Around 80 is hard to tell from the original. PNG, GIF and BMP have no quality setting.
What is "Target size"?
Type the largest size you can accept, such as 500 KB, and the tool finds the best quality that fits. If nothing fits, it makes the picture smaller in pixels and says so.
Does it keep the location and camera details?
No. Converted pictures carry no metadata.

Your file stays on this device

The tool above runs in a sealed frame that cannot send your file anywhere. It works with airplane mode on, and the counter above it stays at 0. Here is how you can check that yourself.
