What this does
Scales pictures down (or up, if you allow it) and saves them in their own format with metadata removed.
What it can’t do
Change the shape. To get an exact shape, such as a square, crop the picture first.
A worked example
A site asks for a profile picture at most 800 pixels wide. Set the width to 800, leave the height empty, and a 4,032-pixel photo comes back at 800 × 600.
Questions
- Will my picture be stretched?
- No. It keeps its shape and is fitted inside the width and height you give. Leave one box empty to set only the other.
- Can I make a picture bigger?
- Only if you switch that on. Enlarging adds pixels but not detail, so the result looks soft.
- Can I resize many at once?
- Yes. Add them all; the same size applies to each.
Your file stays on this device
The tool above runs in a sealed frame that cannot send your file anywhere. It works with airplane mode on, and the counter above it stays at 0. Here is how you can check that yourself.
